Works teams and school chess: for staff and pupils 15

The teams on this page play for an employer, and only its staff can join. They meet in the Wiener Betriebsmeisterschaft, the works league of the Viennese federation, on Wednesday evenings from October to April: banks such as BAWAG and UniCredit Bank Austria, the Wiener Staatsoper, ORF, Polizei Wien, the energy companies Verbund and OMV, an insurer and a maker of industrial seals. Several teams give the federation house at Spielmannplatz in Leopoldstadt as their venue, which is why that district appears so often.

School chess sits here too. Schachverein BG 16 plays in a grammar school building in Ottakring, the Wiener Schülerliga is the federation's league for school teams, and the SPIDS project teaches chess in Viennese schools together with the Kinder- und Jugendschachverein Wien. Pupils who want to play outside school will find clubs with youth training under the lessons.
