Club nights on Thursday 8
About this list
More Viennese clubs meet on Thursday than on any other day. Schachklub Austria Wien gathers at Café Frey on Favoritenstraße for free games, blitz, training and analysis, and its page says beginners are welcome. 1. Schachklub Ottakring plays at HTL Wien West after its children's group, Schachzentrum Favoriten at Café Anningerblick, and Schachklub Hörndlwald at Café Weidinger on the Gürtel, but only on the first Thursday of the month.
Several clubs start in the afternoon. Schachverein Schmelz and Team-Wien use pensioners' clubs, Schachklub Donau meets at the club rooms in Karl-Meißl-Straße in Brigittenau, and the Kinder- und Jugendschachverein Wien trains its young members from half past four. Team-Wien also plays in the works league, whose matches fall on Wednesday evenings.
